LIV Golf: Three Wildcards Earned for 2026 Season Including Anthony Kim

At the LIV Golf Promotions, three players, including returning Anthony Kim, secured spots for the 2026 season.

A spot in the LIV Golf League is fiercely contested. At the promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for exactly three wildcards for the 2026 season. Two final rounds, 36 holes, and a lot of pressure – in the end, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim secured their places for the upcoming year at LIV Golf, which starts on February 4 in Riyadh. In addition to the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.

Richard T. Lee Shines at LIV Golf Promotions

Richard T. Lee from Canada won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. With rounds of 64 and 65 on the final weekend, he clearly took the lead. He is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. The decision to participate was made shortly before, as he only registered for the event in early January. Lee, who has six professional wins, has played on the Asian and Korean Tours in recent years and was 2013 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year.

Hellgren Takes Big Risks and Gets Rewarded

Bjorn Hellgren had a lot to make up on Sunday, starting in 11th place. Not an ideal position. But the Swede went all in: four birdies on the last six holes, a 64 – a shared course record – and second place. His final day performance included long drives, accurate greens, and hot putting. Hellgren knows how to come from behind and this will be his first LIV Golf season in 2026. The 35-year-old has eight professional wins, most recently the Saudi Open in December.

Anthony Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Terms

Anthony Kim is already familiar with the LIV Golf stage, but his third start in the league has a special significance. In 2024, after a twelve-year break, he returned with a two-year wildcard status, which then ended. Now, he earned his spot outright. With a 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday, clever course management and a crucial putt on the 14th hole secured him third place. At 40 years old, Kim continues his comeback after twelve years away from golf, now with a permanent place in the LIV Golf calendar. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said. Given his story, it’s easy to believe him.
