Three players, including returning Anthony Kim, secure spots for the upcoming LIV Golf 2026 season at the Promotions event.
A spot in the LIV Golf League is highly contested. At the Promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed fiercely for exactly three wildcards for the 2026 season. After two final rounds and 36 holes under immense pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim secured their places for next year’s LIV Golf, which begins on February 4 in Riyadh. Besides the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.
Richard T. Lee Triumphs at LIV Golf Promotions
Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with an overall score of eleven under par. His final rounds of 64 and 65 put him comfortably in the lead. He is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. Lee’s decision to participate was made just in early January. He has six professional wins and has competed on the Asian and Korean Tours in recent years, earning Asian Tour Rookie of the Year honors in 2013.
Hellgren Takes Risk and Is Rewarded
Bjorn Hellgren started Sunday from eleventh place, an uncomfortable position. The Swede went all-in with four birdies on the last six holes, carding a 64—tying the course record—and finishing second. His game on the final day combined long drives, accurate approach shots, and hot putting. Hellgren shows how to climb a leaderboard from behind. 2026 will be his first season with LIV Golf. The 35-year-old brings eight professional wins, including the Saudi Open last December.
Kim Returns to LIV Golf, This Time on His Own Merit
Anthony Kim is a familiar face on the LIV Golf scene, but his third LIV Golf season comes with a special note. After a 12-year hiatus, he returned in 2024 with a two-year wildcard status, which then ended. Now, Kim earned his spot himself. With rounds of 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday, clever course management, and a crucial putt on hole 14 secured him third place. At 40, he continues his comeback after a long break, now with a permanent spot on the LIV Golf calendar. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said, a belief that resonates given his remarkable story.
