LIV Golf: Three New Wildcards Secured for 2026 Season

Three players, including comeback star Anthony Kim, earned spots for the 2026 LIV Golf season at the Black Diamond Ranch.

A spot in the LIV Golf League is highly competitive. At the promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for just three wildcards for the 2026 season. Two final rounds, 36 holes, and immense pressure culminated with Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim securing their places for the upcoming LIV Golf season, which starts on February 4 in Riyadh. Besides the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.

Richard T. Lee Dominates LIV Golf Promotions

Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. With rounds of 64 and 65 on the final weekend, he clearly took the lead. Lee is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. His decision to participate came late, as he signed up only at the beginning of January for the event. Lee, who boasts six professional wins, has played on the Asian and Korean Tours in recent years and was the 2013 Rookie of the Year on the Asian Tour.

Hellgren Takes Big Risks and Reaps Rewards

Bjorn Hellgren was 11th on Sunday, facing a challenging spot. The Swede went all-in with four birdies on the last six holes, shooting a 64 – a tied course record – to finish in second place. His final day was marked by long, accurate drives, precise approach shots, and heated putting. Hellgren knows how to climb the leaderboard from behind. He will compete in LIV Golf for the first time in 2026, bringing eight professional wins, including his recent victory at the Saudi Open in December.

Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Merit

Anthony Kim is no stranger to the LIV Golf stage. His third start in the league comes with a special twist. After returning in 2024 following a twelve-year hiatus with a two-year wildcard status, he lost his spot afterward. Now, Kim earned his place again through his own performance. With a 66 on Saturday and a 69 on Sunday, he secured third place, thanks especially to smart course management and a crucial putt on the 14th hole. At 40, Kim continues his comeback after twelve years away from competitive golf with a guaranteed spot in the 2026 LIV Golf schedule. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said. Given his story, it’s easy to believe him.
