Three players secure their spots for the upcoming LIV Golf season, including returning player Anthony Kim.
A spot in the LIV Golf League is highly contested. At the promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for just three wildcards for the 2026 season. Two final rounds, 36 holes, lots of pressure – and in the end, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim earned their places for next year’s LIV Golf season, starting February 4 in Riyadh. In addition to the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.
Richard T. Lee Claims Victory at LIV Golf Promotions
Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. With rounds of 64 and 65 during the final weekend, he clearly took the lead. He is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. Lee decided to participate only shortly before the event, signing up at the beginning of January. With six professional wins to his name, he has played on the Asian and Korean Tours and was the 2013 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year.
Hellgren Takes Big Risks and Is Rewarded
Bjorn Hellgren still had work to do on Sunday, starting from 11th place, not an easy position. The Swede went all-in: making four birdies on the last six holes, shooting a 64 — tying the course record — to finish second. His final day was marked by long drives, precise approach shots, and hot putting. Hellgren knows how to come from behind in a field. This will be his first LIV Golf season in 2026. The 35-year-old has eight professional wins, most recently capturing the Saudi Open in December.
Kim Returns to LIV Golf—This Time on His Own Merit
Anthony Kim is already familiar with the LIV Golf stage, and his third start in the league comes with a special twist. After returning in 2024 following a twelve-year hiatus with a two-year wildcard status, he is now earning his spot by qualification. With rounds of 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday, he secured third place — showcasing smart course management and a crucial putt on hole 14. At 40, Kim continues his comeback after twelve years, now holding a fixed place in the LIV Golf schedule. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said. Given his history, one is inclined to believe him.
