LIV Golf Awards Three Wildcards for 2026 Season Including Anthony Kim

Three players, including returning Anthony Kim, earn spots for the upcoming 2026 LIV Golf season at the Promotions event.

Securing a place in the LIV Golf League is fiercely competitive. At the Promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players contested three wildcards for the 2026 season. After two final rounds totaling 36 holes under immense pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim earned their spots for the upcoming LIV Golf season starting February 4 in Riyadh. Additionally, ten players qualified for the Asian Tour’s International Series.

Richard T. Lee Triumphs at LIV Golf Promotions

Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. Posting rounds of 64 and 65 over the final weekend, he surged to the top, becoming the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. His decision to participate came late, having registered in early January. Lee, a six-time professional winner, has previously competed on the Asian and Korean Tours and was 2013 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year.

Hellgren Takes Risks and Reaps Rewards

Starting Sunday in 11th place, Swedish player Bjorn Hellgren had much ground to cover. Going all-in, he made four birdies over the final six holes, shooting a 64—the joint course record—and finishing second. His game on the final day was a combination of length off the tee, accuracy on approach shots, and hot putting. The 35-year-old, who recently won the Saudi Open in December, will make his LIV Golf debut in 2026 with eight professional wins under his belt.

Anthony Kim Earns LIV Golf Spot on His Own Merit

Anthony Kim is no stranger to LIV Golf, having returned in 2024 after a twelve-year hiatus with a two-year wildcard status. Now, in his third LIV Golf start, he secured his place through his performance, shooting 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday, finishing third. Key factors were smart course management and a critical putt on the 14th hole. At 40, Kim continues his comeback after a long golf break, now with a permanent place in the LIV Golf schedule. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said, a conviction clear from his compelling journey.
