LIV Golf: Three New Wildcards Awarded for the 2026 Season

At the LIV Golf Promotions, three players secured their spots for the 2026 season, including returning star Anthony Kim.

A spot in the LIV Golf League is fiercely contested. At the promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for exactly three wildcards for the 2026 season. After two final rounds and 36 holes of intense pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim secured their places for next year’s LIV Golf season, which kicks off on February 4 in Riyadh. In addition to the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.

Richard T. Lee Triumphs at LIV Golf Promotions

Richard T. Lee from Canada won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. Strong rounds of 64 and 65 on the final weekend propelled him to the top. He became the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. Lee decided to participate only at the beginning of January. With six professional wins to his name, Lee has competed in recent years on both the Asian and Korean Tours and was the 2013 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year.

Hellgren Takes Risks and Reaps Rewards

Bjorn Hellgren faced a tough challenge on Sunday, starting in 11th place. The Swedish player went all-in, making four birdies in the last six holes and shooting a 64, tying the course record, to claim second place. His final round showcased long drives, precise approach shots, and hot putting. Hellgren will be competing in LIV Golf for the first time in 2026. The 35-year-old boasts eight professional wins, including the Saudi Open in December.

Anthony Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Merit

Anthony Kim, familiar with the LIV Golf stage, makes his third league appearance with a special twist. After a 12-year hiatus, he returned in 2024 with a two-year wildcard but then lost his status. Now, he has earned his spot outright. He posted rounds of 66 and 69, relying on smart course management and a crucial putt on the 14th hole to secure third place. At 40, Kim continues his comeback with a fixed spot on the LIV Golf schedule for 2026. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said, and given his story, it’s easy to believe him.
