LIV Golf Promotions: Three Wildcards Secured for 2026 Season

Three players secured spots for the upcoming LIV Golf 2026 season, including returning star Anthony Kim.

Securing a place in the LIV Golf League is highly competitive. At the promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for just three wildcards for the 2026 season. After two final rounds and 36 holes of intense pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim clinched their spots for the next year’s LIV Golf season, starting February 4 in Riyadh. In addition to the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the Asian Tour’s International Series.

Richard T. Lee Triumphs at LIV Golf Promotions

Richard T. Lee from Canada won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. His rounds of 64 and 65 on the final weekend clearly pushed him to the top. He is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. Lee’s decision to participate came last minute, as he registered only in early January. With six professional wins to his name, Lee has played on the Asian and Korean Tours over recent years and was the 2013 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year.

Hellgren Takes a Risk and Reaps the Reward

Bjorn Hellgren faced a tough challenge on Sunday, starting from 11th place with no comfortable cushion. However, the Swede went all-in with four birdies on the last six holes, shooting a 64 – a shared course record – to finish second. His final day strategy: powerful tee shots, accurate approach play, and clutch putting. Hellgren is set to make his LIV Golf debut in 2026. The 35-year-old brings eight professional wins, including his recent victory at the Saudi Open in December.

Anthony Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Merit

Anthony Kim is no stranger to the LIV Golf stage, but his third start in the league is special. After a 12-year hiatus, he returned in 2024 with a two-year wildcard status, which has now ended. This time, Kim earned his spot through performance, with rounds of 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday securing third place. Key to his success were smart course management and a crucial putt on the 14th hole. Now 40, Kim continues his comeback after a long break, cementing a permanent place in the LIV Golf
