In January, LIV Golf will host its annual Promotions Event in Florida, offering two coveted spots in the league. The field is now set.
The 87-player field for the 2026 LIV Golf Promotions Event has been confirmed. The tournament will take place from January 8–11 at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida. Last year’s event in Saudi Arabia offered just one league spot, which was claimed by Chieh-po Lee. This year, the stakes are higher, with increased prize money and an improved promotion-relegation system aimed at gaining Official World Golf Ranking points.
Big names headline LIV Golf Promotions lineup
German-speaking players Maximilian Kieffer and Matthias Schwab are among the competitors aiming to secure a spot in the league. Also in the field are the top ten players from the International Series Top 20, including Miguel Tabuena (Philippines winner), Ollie Schniederjans (India winner), and Wade Ormsby (Jakarta winner). These players are automatically qualified for the second round, along with relegated and released LIV players such as Ben Campbell, Matt Jones, Andy Ogletree, Anthony Kim, Max Rottluff, and John Catlin.
Notable European names include former Ryder Cup player and BMW PGA Champion Chris Wood, five-time DP World Tour winner Alex Levy, and former Open Championship silver medalist Tom Lewis. Former DPWT regulars Callum Shinkwin and Lucas Bjerregaard will also tee it up, as will Walker Cup players Dominic Clemons and Charlie Forster.
High competition and no PGA Tour players
According to LIV Golf, 50 of the 87 players have won a tournament in the past two years, including 39 different winners of OWGR-sanctioned events in 2025. “The evolution of LIV Golf Promotions reflects our ongoing commitment to creating truly open and competitive pathways for players around the world to compete at the highest level,” said LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil. “It will be a high-stakes, intense competition from start to finish, and we look forward to celebrating the players who earn their shot at LIV Golf’s biggest season yet.”
Once again, no PGA Tour players will participate, as the Tour classifies the four-day event as unauthorized. Any member who competes would face a one-year suspension. Tensions between the two professional circuits remain high, recently reignited when Laurie Canter gave up his PGA Tour card to return to the Saudi-backed league.
