Several German-speaking pros compete in Florida at the LIV Golf Promotions for three spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League.
From January 8 to 11, the LIV Golf Promotions in Lecanto, Florida, bring together nearly 90 players from 24 countries, all aiming for one of three wild-card spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League. The path to the league goes through four rounds of stroke play, with a new cut each day and fresh opportunities. Those who make it to the weekend compete for a total purse of $1.5 million and a place in the global LIV Golf circuit. At the end, three spots for the 2026 LIV Golf League are awarded, including guaranteed starts at all 13 events. Ten more players earn starting rights for the International Series.
LIV Golf Opens the Door – Who Will Take the Step Into the League?
The field includes tour winners, former LIV players, and newcomers, all high-caliber participants. For some, it’s a comeback; for others, a first big breakthrough. Among them are five German-speaking players for whom this event is a real opportunity and potentially the start of a new chapter.
Max Kieffer Faces a New Chapter
For Max Kieffer, this event might be the most important appearance since his DP World Tour victory in 2022. After 13 years on the European top tier, his tour card is gone. The 2025 season did not go as planned; Kieffer fell in the rankings and missed Q-School. Now it’s LIV Golf. The Düsseldorf native brings experience and a clear mindset that it’s not over yet: \”We’re not done yet,\” he recently wrote. Florida will show how far the road back really is.
Foos, Bachem, Rottluff, Schwab: Each with Their Own Story
Another approach but a similar goal: Dominic Foos made a mark in 2025 with a win on the Asian Tour. Consistent play and international experience earned him a spot in the promotions. Now he wants more. For the 28-year-old, a jump into the LIV Golf League would be both a sporting step up and a catapult into the tour’s spotlight.
For Nick Bachem, 2025 ended bitterly: injury, loss of form, last at Q-School – the year was tough. But those who know the 26-year-old know he doesn’t give up easily. Bachem has already shown he can win at top level. Similar for Matthias Schwab: the Austrian missed the final tournament of Q-School and thus any realistic chance for a tour card. After years on the PGA and DP World Tours, he is now seeking a new path – LIV Golf could offer that. Maximilian Rottluff approaches the LIV Golf Promotions with his own perspective. The 32-year-old qualified last year through this very tournament for the International Series on the Asian Tour.
