Several German-speaking pros compete in Florida at the LIV Golf Promotions for three spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League.
From January 8 to 11, the LIV Golf Promotions in Lecanto, Florida, will see nearly 90 players from 24 countries competing for one of three wild-card spots for the 2026 LIV Golf League. The tournament consists of four rounds of stroke play, with a new cut each day and new chances to advance. Players reaching the weekend will compete for a total prize pool of $1.5 million and a place in the global LIV Golf tour. Ultimately, three spots for the 2026 LIV Golf League are awarded, including guaranteed starts at all 13 events. Ten additional players will secure starts on the International Series.
LIV Golf Opens the Door – Who Will Seize the Opportunity?
The field features top players ranging from tour winners and former LIV players to newcomers. For some, it’s about making a comeback; for others, it’s a breakthrough. Among them, five German-speaking players view the event as a major opportunity and possibly the start of a new chapter.
Max Kieffer Facing the Next Chapter
For Max Kieffer, this event could be his most important appearance since his 2022 DP World Tour victory. After 13 years on the European Tour, he lost his tour card, and the 2025 season did not go as planned, with a drop in the rankings and a missed Q-School. Now he turns to LIV Golf, bringing experience and determination: \”We’re not done yet,\” he recently wrote. Florida will show how far his comeback can go.
Foos, Bachem, Rottluff, Schwab: Each with Their Own Story
Dominic Foos impressed in 2025 with an Asian Tour win, showcasing steady play and international experience that earned him a spot in the Promotions. At 28, advancing to the LIV Golf League would be both a sporting step up and a spotlight moment. Nick Bachem’s 2025 ended disappointingly due to injury and form issues, finishing last at Q-School. Known for resilience, the 26-year-old has previously competed at top levels. Similarly, Austrian Matthias Schwab missed the final round of Q-School and realistic tour card chances after years on the PGA and DP World Tours; LIV Golf could open new doors. Maximilian Rottluff, 32, qualified last year for the Asian Tour’s International Series through this very tournament and approaches the Promotion with a unique perspective.
Known Names and Unfinished Business at LIV Golf
The international field also includes notable global pro golfers such as Ryder Cup participant Chris Wood (England), five-time DP World Tour winner Alex Levy (France), Miguel Tabuena (Philippines), who ranked among the top three in the 2025 International Series, and Pablo Ereno (Spain), formerly a top-ten amateur worldwide. Christopher Wood (Australia), current leader of the PGA Tour of Australasia, is also competing. Former LIV Golf players like Anthony Kim, Matt Jones, and Ben Campbell use the Promotions as a route to re-qualify for the 2026 season.
