Internet Invitational: Golf Creators Compete for $1.7 Million on YouTube

At the Internet Invitational, golf creators, pros, and celebrities compete for $1.7 million in a unique YouTube tournament.

There are plenty of golf tournaments out there, but few like the Internet Invitational. Hosted by Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports, the event brought 48 players to the scenic Big Cedar Lodge Resort in the Ozarks, Missouri—home to the spectacular Payne’s Valley course. The lineup was just as impressive as the location, featuring YouTube stars like Rick Shiels, Garrett Clark, and Luke Kwon, alongside former pros like Wesley Bryan, comedians, influencers, and even ex-NHL and NFL players. Cameras rolled throughout the event, capturing team drafts, high-stakes matches, and a tournament format that reimagines traditional golf rules.

Internet Invitational Format: Drafts, Teams, and Big Money

The competition was team-based, starting with scramble format, then alternate shot, followed by redrafts and eliminations. The total prize pool? A whopping $1.7 million. The final day’s winning team took home $1 million, split among three players. Each hole also featured a $4,000 skins match, with unclaimed money rolling over. It’s chaotic—in the best way. The structure mirrors a reality show more than a traditional golf event. Two captains—Rigs from Barstool and Bob from Bob Does Sports—drafted teams Survivor-style. Adding to the entertainment, Dave Portnoy and Dan Katz roamed the course in red jackets as unofficial rule enforcers. What they said, went.
