KPop Demon Hunters was the most watched Netflix film in 2025. In second place comes a golf film.
Fans waited 30 years for a sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star cameos. After the original became a cult classic over the years, the time was right for a new edition. And the wait paid off, as the film was one of the most successful Netflix films of the year, reports Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million minutes streamed and was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while remaining in Netflix’s weekly top 10. It stayed atop the global top 10 list for two weeks and remained in the worldwide top 10 for five weeks in total.
Ranking Among Netflix Releases in 2025
Out of 39 films released by Netflix in 2025, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes viewed.
