KPop Demon Hunters was Netflix’s most-watched film in 2025. Following at number two was a golf movie.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, which finally premiered last year: Happy Gilmore 2 launched on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star cameos. As the original film became a cult classic over the years, the timing was right for a revival. The wait paid off, as the film became one of Netflix’s most successful releases of the year, according to Josh Carpenter from the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Netflix Success
The film set a new Netflix record during its opening weekend with almost 47 million minutes streamed and was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while remaining in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. It topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Second Most-Watched Film of 2025
Out of 39 films released by Netflix in 2025, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which achieved more than 17 billion viewing minutes.
