KPop Demon Hunters was Netflix’s most-watched film in 2025. Following closely was a golf movie.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star appearances. After the original became a cult film over the years, the time was ripe for a revival. The wait paid off, as the film became one of Netflix’s most successful movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter from the Sports Business Journal.
The film not only set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes but was also watched for over 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while remaining in Netflix’s weekly top 10. It topped the global top-10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Happy Gilmore 2: A Major Success on Netflix
Out of 39 films Netflix released this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached more than 17 billion minutes viewed.
