Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star appearances. As the original film had become a cult classic over the years, the time was ripe for a reboot. And the wait was worth it as the movie became one of the most successful Netflix films of the year, according to Josh Carpenter from the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes and was viewed for over 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while consistently ranking in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. It led the global Top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.

Out of the 39 films Netflix released in 2025, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes viewed.
