KPop Demon Hunters was the most watched film on Netflix in 2025. In second place is a golf film.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star cameos. As the original grew into a cult classic over the years, the time was right for a reboot. The wait was worth it, as the film became one of Netflix’s most successful movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter at the Sports Business Journal.
Netflix Record and Global Success
Not only did the film set a Netflix record during its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes, but throughout the year it was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes while consistently appearing in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. The film topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Second Top Film on Netflix in 2025
Out of 39 films released by Netflix this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which amassed over 17 billion streamed minutes.
