KPop Demon Hunters was Netflix’s most-watched film in 2025. Coming in second was a golf-themed movie.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, which finally premiered last year: Happy Gilmore 2, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star appearances. As the original had become a cult film over the years, the time was ripe for a remake. The wait was rewarded, as the film became one of Netflix’s most successful movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter from the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers
The film not only set a Netflix record with almost 47 million streamed minutes during its opening weekend but was also viewed for over 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while remaining in Netflix’s weekly top 10. It led the global top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Second Most-Watched Netflix Film in 2025
Out of 39 movies released by Netflix this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes watched.
