KPop Demon Hunters was Netflix’s most-watched film in 2025. Coming in second was a golf movie.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star cameos. After the original became a cult classic over the years, the time was right for a reboot. The wait paid off, as the movie became one of the most successful Netflix films of the year, according to Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Happy Gilmore 2 Breaks Netflix Records
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million minutes streamed, and throughout the year, it was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes while remaining in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. It topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Second Only to KPop Demon Hunters
Out of 39 films released by Netflix in 2025, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes streamed.
