Nicolai von Dellingshausen shares insights on courses, travel and goals for the 2025 DP World Tour season.
Pilot or pro golfer? For Nicolai von Dellingshausen, this was once more than a theoretical question. In 2013, he passed Lufthansa’s pilot selection process, paving the way for a structured and secure aviation career. But he chose a different path—trading flight plans for fairways. Today, he is one of Germany’s established players on the DP World Tour.
Golf with structure: Focus as a key to success
When von Dellingshausen reflects on his best round to date, he immediately recalls his victory in Austria. Not just for the trophy, but because everything clicked—from tee to green and mentally. On the flip side, he openly remembers a less glorious moment at the BMW International Open, where a misplayed wedge ended up in the bushes behind the green—turning the walk back to the bunker into a literal “walk of shame.”
His love for travel remains strong. Among his favorite destinations is the historic Wentworth Club near London. He also enjoys playing in Singapore. If he had to choose just one course to play for the rest of his life? It would be one of the Melbourne classics—Victoria or Kingston Heath.
Rory, Roger and the 2025 DP World Tour season
Von Dellingshausen draws inspiration from Rory McIlroy, especially after playing a round with him—McIlroy’s ball-striking left a lasting impression. Outside of golf, he looks up to Roger Federer as a sporting role model. When asked about his closest friend on the DP World Tour, he diplomatically names all German players, highlighting the strong team spirit. His goal for the current season remains open-ended: no bold declarations, just steady progress, development, and seizing opportunities.
