Nicolai von Dellingshausen talks courses, travel, rounds and goals on the 2025 DP World Tour calendar.
Pilot or pro golfer? For Nicolai von Dellingshausen, that was once a real-life dilemma. In 2013, he passed Lufthansa’s selection process, paving the way for a structured and secure career in aviation. But he chose a different path—one that led him to the fairways instead of flight decks. Today, he’s one of Germany’s established players on the DP World Tour.
DP World Tour: Focus and Mental Strength as Keys to Success
When reflecting on his best round, von Dellingshausen immediately recalls his victory in Austria—not just for the trophy, but because everything clicked from tee to green, including his mental game. On the flip side, he openly remembers a less stellar moment at the BMW International Open, where a misplayed wedge ended up in the bushes behind the green, turning his walk back to the bunker into a literal “walk of shame.”
Despite the ups and downs, his love for travel remains strong. His favorite destination? Wentworth, the historic course just south of London. He also enjoys playing in Singapore. And if he could only play one course for the rest of his life? It would be in Melbourne—either Victoria or Kingston Heath.
Inspiration from Rory and Roger, and Goals for 2025
Von Dellingshausen finds sporting inspiration in Rory McIlroy. After playing a round together, he was especially impressed by McIlroy’s ball striking. Outside of golf, he looks up to Roger Federer as a role model. When asked about his closest friends on the DP World Tour, he diplomatically names all the German players, highlighting the strong camaraderie within the group. His goal for the current season? No bold declarations—just steady progress, continued development, and making the most of every opportunity.
