Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling performance to win the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour. The South African secured his second consecutive title with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second playoff hole, edging out American Ryan Gerard at La Réserve Golf Links.
Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, to force a playoff after both players finished at 22-under-par.
In the playoff, Schaper sealed the victory in style by holing out from off the green for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second straight win on the DP World Tour, both coming via playoffs.
Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Following his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course. From start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year and so is the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished third after a final-round 71 (+1), which included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been in contention throughout the week but couldn’t match the leaders on Sunday.
Mixed results for German players on final day
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled in the final round. Schneider, who had a steady front nine with just one bogey, faltered on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 (+6) and dropping to T37 at -4 overall. Siem also had a tough day, carding a 76 (+4) with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, finishing alongside Schneider.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round to finish T48 at -1 for the tournament.
