Fleetwood and Rai share lead at Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Nicolai von Dellingshausen stays in contention despite late bogey, while Marcel Schneider climbs leaderboard with strong 68.

On day two of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on the DP World Tour, Nicolai von Dellingshausen continued his solid form. A bogey late in the round cost him a few spots, but his 2-under-par 70 keeps him within striking distance of the leaders. Marcel Schneider bounced back from a 72 on Thursday with a strong 68 to move closer to the rest of the field. Englishmen Tommy Fleetwood and Aaron Rai lead the tournament heading into the weekend at 14 under par.

Von Dellingshausen stays close despite late slip

After a strong opening round of 66 (T6), Von Dellingshausen aimed to stay near the top. A poor drive on hole 3 forced a drop and led to a bogey. However, he recovered with a highlight moment on the par-5 7th, choosing a putter from off the green and holing it for eagle. He followed with a long birdie putt on 10 and another birdie on 14 to climb the leaderboard. A missed short putt late in the round resulted in a second bogey, finishing with a 70 (-2) and dropping to 17th place. Still, he remains within reach of the leaders heading into the weekend.

Marcel Schneider improved significantly on Friday. On hole 2, he hit a precise shot from a fairway bunker to set up his first birdie. On the 7th, he executed a great up-and-down from the greenside bunker for another birdie. After birdieing the 10th, he gave one back on 11 but rebounded with a bold tee shot on 14 that set up another birdie. He closed his round with a birdie on 18, finishing with a 68 (-4) and gaining ground on the field.

Albatross propels Rai into tie with Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood and Aaron Rai share the lead after two rounds. Fleetwood started hot with birdies on the first three holes and only one bogey on 15. Rai delivered the shot of the day with an albatross on hole 2, holing a 195-meter iron shot. He followed it up with five birdies to finish tied at the top. With the field close behind, the DP World Tour playoff event promises an exciting weekend finish.
