Martin Couvra made an immediate impact in his first year on the DP World Tour, earning the prestigious Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award for 2025. The 22-year-old Frenchman became only the second player from France to receive the honor, following in the footsteps of Olivier Edmond 27 years ago. With seven top-ten finishes, including a victory in Turkey, Couvra climbed to 19th in the Race to Dubai standings, outperforming all other rookies.

Fast track to success
Couvra’s rise began on the Challenge Tour, where he won the Challenge de España in 2023 as an amateur. A year later, he finished 17th in the Road to Mallorca rankings, securing his DP World Tour card for 2025. He wasted no time making his mark, posting top-ten finishes at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, and in Bahrain, Qatar, and China. Week after week, Couvra established himself as a consistent presence on the DP World Tour leaderboards.
Breakthrough win in Turkey
The turning point of Couvra’s rookie season came in May, when a final-round 64 propelled him past Haotong Li and Jorge Campillo to claim his first DP World Tour title. He maintained his momentum with further top-ten finishes in Austria and Italy, including a runner-up finish at the Italian Open, just behind fellow Frenchman Adrien Saddier. His consistent performance earned him 19th place in the Race to Dubai and ultimately secured the Rookie of the Year title ahead of Spain’s Angel Ayora.
