MagentaTV Strengthens Golf Coverage: Commentator Moves from Sky Sport

Gregor Biernath leaves Sky to join MagentaTV, boosting its new golf team ahead of extensive live coverage starting January 15, 2026.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has now also attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The live broadcasts will begin next week, on January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV offering a total of 131 events across two channels, establishing itself as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in German-speaking countries, is moving from the TV channel Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf specialists Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath stated, ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive can be created for golf. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and praised the ‘really good mix.’

New faces were also sought and found in the commentator area. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will commentate on golf events along with Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. In addition, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
