MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky Sports

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts kick off.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV also welcomes a prominent commentator from Sky Sports. The broadcasts start on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 events on two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good Is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking region, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He leads the new expert team supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good can emerge for golf here. We can innovate and freshen up golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and praised it as a ‘really great mix.’

New faces have also been found for the commentators’ team. Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will now commentate golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as a hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will join the live coverage.
