Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team as live coverage expands significantly.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The live broadcasts will begin on January 15, 2026, featuring a total of 131 events across two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Positive for Golf Is Emerging”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most well-known golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath stated, “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive is emerging for the sport of golf. We can design golf coverage at MagentaTV in an innovative way and shake things up.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” and spoke of a “really good mix.”
New Faces Strengthen the Commentating Team
New commentators have been recruited as well. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
