Brooks Koepka leaves LIV Golf after four seasons

After weeks of speculation, it’s official: Brooks Koepka is parting ways with the LIV Golf League after four seasons.

The rumors had been swirling for weeks, and now it’s confirmed: Brooks Koepka will no longer be part of the LIV Golf League. The five-time Major champion had been a key figure since joining the league in 2022, securing five wins, leading Smash GC as team captain, and making numerous high-profile appearances. His time with LIV Golf now ends earlier than originally planned.

Brooks Koepka departs LIV Golf League

According to both parties, the decision was mutual. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil confirmed that they agreed to end the partnership after the 2025 season. Koepka stated he wants to spend more time with his family, especially with his wife Jena and their son Crew. The 35-year-old expressed gratitude toward the league’s leadership, his teammates, and fans.

New roles and open questions

Koepka’s contract with LIV Golf was originally set to run through 2026, making this an early exit. His departure prompted a quick restructuring within Smash GC, where Talor Gooch will now take over as captain, supported by Jason Kokrak and Graeme McDowell. One team spot remains open for the upcoming season.

Koepka becomes the first Major champion to leave the league since its inception. While his next steps are not officially announced, his path is relatively clear: following his final LIV Golf appearance in August 2025, a suspension period for the PGA Tour will apply. Meanwhile, he remains eligible to compete on the DP World Tour and is qualified for all four Major tournaments. Koepka has yet to reveal when or where he plans to return to regular competition.
