Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. After years of exclusivity with Sky, Deutsche Telekom has acquired the broadcasting rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These channels will launch in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will provide full-length coverage of all tournaments, while MS Golf 2 will feature additional content such as player features, historical highlights, and behind-the-scenes stories. The coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire offering will be included at no extra cost for Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever—from the first tee shot to the final putt, live, informative, and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom. “This package is designed for both seasoned golf fans and new, younger audiences discovering the sport.”

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing the bulk of weekly tour coverage, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the four men’s Majors and the five women’s Majors, as well as the Solheim Cup. These events remain some of the most prestigious in golf, ensuring Sky retains a significant portion of the sport’s most-watched tournaments.

Going forward, fans who want to follow both weekly tour events and the Majors will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
