Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in January 2026. Telekom has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two newly launched golf channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—available on Magenta TV starting January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. Many programs will also be available on-demand. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire offering is included at no extra cost for Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive golf live coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll present every tournament live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, fans wanting full golf coverage will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
