Breaking: Telekom Acquires Extensive Golf Rights for MagentaTV

Starting January 2026, MagentaTV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new destination for live coverage starting January 2026. After years of exclusive broadcasting by Sky, Telekom has secured the rights to air PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events on its MagentaTV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, MagentaTV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will retain the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Golf on MagentaTV

The new broadcasting package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two newly launched channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—available on MagentaTV starting January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire offering is included at no extra cost for MagentaTV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll show every tournament like never before—live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf coverage, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, fans who want to follow both weekly tournaments and the Majors will need subscriptions to both MagentaTV and Sky.
