Bernhard Langer reflects on his cherished memories at the PNC Championship and playing alongside his son.
Bernhard Langer vividly remembers his first appearance at the PNC Championship. Back then, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among the greats. “We had a blast,” Langer recalls. “He had to compete against professional teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, but the experience. “It was just a wonderful time.” That debut marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day. “I loved this tournament from the very first moment I was invited.”
Legends, majors, and family bonds
The PNC Championship unites golfers who have made history. For Langer, that’s part of its unique charm. “Being out there with other Major champions and legends of the game is something special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet budding swings, with Langer in the middle—as both father and player.
A holiday tradition
The December date makes the tournament extra special for many players, including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, right before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion.” While the PGA Tour and other tours are on winter break, this event stands out as a festive celebration of golf, camaraderie, and generational connection.
