At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and right in the mix with the pros. “We had a blast,” Langer says today. “Back then, he had to compete against professional teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even when he was three over par.” It wasn’t easy, but that wasn’t the point. “It was just a wonderful time.” For Langer, it marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day. “I loved this tournament from the first moment I was invited.”
