Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card in Hua Hin after a tense playoff. Other German players miss the cut after round four.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their cards for the 2025 Asian Tour season. Among them was Germany’s Marc Hammer, who clinched his spot after a dramatic five-hole playoff. Leading the field was China’s Lin Yuxin, who delivered an impressive performance over five rounds to top the leaderboard at 16-under-par.
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Lin Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded left-hander. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), Lin played collegiate golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Speaking about his recent struggles on the greens, Lin said, ‘I played well all season but had putting issues, especially in the summer. I worked hard on that in October and November, and my game has felt good again.’ He added, ‘It’s been tough with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro, and it’s been a valuable experience.’
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after a final-round 72 that included four bogeys. Canada’s Henry Lee secured third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer prevails in playoff for Asian Tour card
The battle for the final tour cards was intense, with twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place heading into a playoff for the remaining eight spots. After five playoff holes, Marc Hammer emerged among the successful eight, securing his place on the Asian Tour. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen, Germany, posted rounds of 71–67–72–70, finishing with a solid 70 on the final day. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, including three top-10 finishes last season, now looks to make his mark in Asia.
Other German hopefuls, including Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118), failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
