Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School in Thailand

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut after round four.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their Asian Tour cards. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer, who clinched his spot in a dramatic playoff. Chinese left-hander Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard after five intense days, finishing at 16-under-par with rounds of 68–67–70–67–67. His consistent performance earned him the top spot in the Q-School rankings and a secure place on the Asian Tour.

Milestone victory for Lin Yuxin

Yuxin’s win marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played collegiate golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. Since then, he has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Yuxin has struggled with putting—issues he describes as mostly mental—but has worked intensively on this aspect of his game in recent months. “I played well all season, but had putting issues, especially in the summer,” he said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since. It’s been tough, with ups and downs, but I’ve learned a lot since turning pro. It’s been a valuable experience.”

Close behind was India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya, who impressed with rounds of 70–67–65–66 before a final-round 72 with four bogeys dropped him to second place at 15-under. Canadian Henry Lee finished third at 14-under-par.

Marc Hammer prevails in playoff to earn Asian Tour card

The battle for the final tour cards was intense, with twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place. A five-hole playoff determined the final eight spots, and Marc Hammer emerged among the successful qualifiers. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen, Germany, delivered a solid performance throughout the tournament, finishing with a final-round 70 (-2) to complement his earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour and recorded three top-10 finishes last season, now adds the Asian Tour to his resume.

Other German participants—Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118)—failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
