Max Rottluff, Martin Kaymer and Dominic Foos start strong at the Asian Tour’s Link Hong Kong Open.
The Link Hong Kong Open teed off on the Asian Tour with a strong international field, including 28 LIV Golf players. As part of the Asian Tour’s International Series, the event offers a $2 million purse and valuable qualification points for the 2026 Masters and the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
Asian Tour: Rottluff opens with bogey-free 66
Maximilian Rottluff delivered a clean opening round at the Link Hong Kong Open, carding a 66 (-4) to sit T28. The German golfer started steadily with eight consecutive pars before making his first birdie on the 9th. He picked up the pace on the back nine, adding birdies on holes 13, 16 and 17.
Kaymer and Foos also under par
Martin Kaymer and Dominic Foos both opened with rounds of 67 (-3), placing them T52. Kaymer got off to a hot start with an eagle on the first hole followed by a birdie, but a double bogey on the 5th slowed his momentum. He recovered with two more birdies on the back nine. For Kaymer, the Asian Tour is a pathway back to major championship contention. Foos had a tougher front nine, dropping two shots early, but bounced back with an eagle on 13 and three birdies on the closing stretch.
McKibbin sets course record with 60
While the German trio performed well, Tom McKibbin stole the spotlight. The Northern Irishman fired a bogey-free 60, setting a new course record at the Composite Course in Fanling.
