The 17th edition of the PGA TOUR’s World Wide Technology Championship will be held next week overlooking the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez. The new venue will be El Cardonal, the first course designed by Tiger Woods, within the Diamante resort of Cabo San Lucas, in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
“We have been overwhelmed by the amazing reception from the community in Los Cabos and look forward to delivering an incredible event,” said Tournament Director Joe Mazzeo, who has experienced first-hand the recent victories of American Russell Henley (2022), two-time Norwegian champion Viktor Hovland (2020 and 2021) and thirteen other world golf stars.
“We had two great champions in our first two years as title sponsor, with Viktor Hovland in 2021 and Russell Henley in 2022, as both are excellent global representatives for the game of golf and the PGA TOUR. We look forward to another outstanding champion in 2023,” said Matt Horner, Executive Vice President, World Wide Technology.
After three years as title sponsor of the event, World Wide Technology has joined forces in 2023 with the new official host venue Diamante and the Los Cabos region to carry on the tournament’s legacy as a pioneer for golf in Mexico and Latin America..
Diamante is a private residential resort nestled along the Pacific coastline of Cabo San Lucas featuring two championship courses. The first course ever designed by Tiger Woods, El Cardonal was influenced by the old-style courses of Southern California where he grew up playing.

“This tournament provides us with an unparalleled opportunity to shine on the international stage, attracting a growing number of golf enthusiasts and travelers,” said Rodrigo Esponda, director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, about a destination with 18 golf courses surrounded by stunning views of desert, mountains, and sea.
Los Cabos is not a new scenario for several of the international golf stars who will compete next week at El Cardonal. Players such as Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa and Sam Bennett won titles with their collegiate teams at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club, also in Cabo San Lucas.
This time as professionals, the 132 participants in the World Wide Technology Championship will put Tiger Woods’ first-ever design to the test and compete for a $8.2 million purse and 500 FedExCup points.
