Three players secure spots for the 2026 LIV Golf season at the Promotions event, including comeback star Anthony Kim.
A spot in the LIV Golf League is highly competitive. At the Promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for three wildcards for the 2026 season. After two final rounds, 36 holes, and plenty of pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim secured their places for the upcoming LIV Golf season, starting February 4 in Riyadh. In addition to the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.
Richard T. Lee Dominates LIV Golf Promotions
Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. His rounds of 64 and 65 during the final weekend put him clearly at the top. He became the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. Lee decided to participate only shortly before the event, registering in early January. With six professional wins already, Lee has played on the Asian and Korean Tours and was the 2013 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year.
Hellgren Takes Risk and Is Rewarded
Bjorn Hellgren had quite a bit to make up on Sunday, starting from 11th place. The Swede went all-in with four birdies in the last six holes, shooting a 64—tying the course record—and finished second. His final day displayed long drives, precision approach shots, and hot putting. Hellgren is set to make his LIV Golf debut in 2026. The 35-year-old carries eight professional wins and recently won the Saudi Open in December.
Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Merit
Anthony Kim, a familiar face on the LIV Golf stage, is making his third start in the league with a unique angle. After a 12-year hiatus, he returned in 2024 with a two-year wildcard status, which ended afterward. This time, he earned his spot through his performance, shooting 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday for third place. Smart course management and a crucial putt on the 14th secured his qualification for 2026, continuing his comeback after twelve years away from professional golf. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” Kim said, and given his story, it’s easy to believe him.
