Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV strengthens its golf coverage by welcoming prominent commentator Gregor Biernath from Sky Sport. The live broadcasts will begin on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 events across two channels, making MagentaTV the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Great for Golf is Emerging’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in German-speaking countries, leads the new expert team at MagentaTV, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and great for golf can develop here. We can innovate and shake up golf coverage on MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’
The commentator lineup has also been refreshed with new faces. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary on DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in calling golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, formerly known for ice hockey coverage on MagentaSport, will contribute to the upcoming live broadcasts.
