Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV announces the addition of a prominent commentator from Sky Sports. Starting January 15, 2026, MagentaTV will serve as the new home for live golf on television, offering 131 events across two channels.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Great is Emerging for Golf’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized voices in German-speaking golf, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath said about his move: ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and great for golf is emerging here. We can shape and refresh golf coverage innovatively at MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’
New faces were also sought and found in the commentary department. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will now commentate golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also join the live broadcasts.
