Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler with numerous star appearances. As the original grew into a cult classic over the years, the time was ripe for a revival. And the wait paid off, as the film became one of the most successful Netflix movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
Not only did the film set a Netflix record with nearly 47 million streamed minutes during its opening weekend, but over the year it was viewed for more than 6.2 billion minutes while remaining in Netflix’s weekly Top 10 lists. The film topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Second Most-Watched Netflix Film of 2025
Among 39 films released by Netflix this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which streamed more than 17 billion minutes.
