MagentaTV Strengthens Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky Sports

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts begin.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has also gained a prominent commentator from Sky Sports. Broadcasts will start next week on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 live golf events across two channels on MagentaTV, now the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive is Emerging for Golf’

Golfs biggest German-speaking voice, Gregor Biernath, is leaving Sky to lead the new expert team at MagentaTV. He will be supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath said, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and noted it as a ‘really good mix.’

New faces are also joining the commentator lineup: Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will commentate alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known for his ice hockey moderation at MagentaSport, will co-host the upcoming live broadcasts.
