MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, joining the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts begin.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has welcomed a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will start from January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 golf events live on two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good for Golf is Being Created”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is leaving Sky to lead MagentaTV’s new expert team. He will be supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf can be created here. We can shape golf at MagentaTV in an innovative way and shake things up.” He also described the new editorial team as “cool” and praised it as a “really good mix.”

New faces have been found for the commentators as well. Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mostly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also support the upcoming live broadcasts.
