Fans waited 30 years for the sequel which finally arrived last year: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star appearances. As the original became a cult classic over the years, the time was right for a reboot, and the wait was worth it as the film became one of the most successful Netflix releases of the year, according to Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record Netflix Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
The film set a Netflix record with nearly 47 million streaming minutes during its opening weekend and was viewed for more than 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while consistently ranking in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. Happy Gilmore 2 topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and remained in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.

Out of 39 films released by Netflix in 2025, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion streaming minutes.
