TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Over The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins a thrilling TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their undefeated streak.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clear: defending champions Atlanta Drive GC came into the SoFi Center with a win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was making their season debut. After 15 holes, the final score stood at 7:4. The decisive lead was secured by the team of Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, particularly in singles format where Atlanta bagged four out of six points. After a balanced start, Atlanta took control starting at hole 11. “We come here, train, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Even without the injured Justin Thomas, the team performed well, demonstrating roster depth. This marked Atlanta’s ninth victory in their last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Game

For the second match in a row, Chris Gotterup made the scoreboard for Atlanta, again playing a crucial role. After a scoreless start at hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from nearly nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded quickly with a hammer play, taking a 2-1 lead. The first real momentum shift came at hole 6, known as “Alpine.” After The Bay had leveled, Gotterup holed a chip-in eagle to bring Atlanta back on par. Although The Bay did not use their hammer, the emotional impact was significant: a tie. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – it’s not easy with all the lighting,” Gotterup said later. “But when you make putts like that, you know what to expect.”
