TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Over The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins a thrilling TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their unbeaten record.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, the roles were clear: reigning champions Atlanta Drive GC came into the SoFi Center with a victory under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club faced their season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4. The decisive lead was secured by the team featuring Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles format where Atlanta claimed four of six possible points. After a balanced start, Atlanta took control from hole 11. \”We come in here, train, play our game – it fits,\” said Horschel. Despite the absence of the injured Justin Thomas, the team’s depth shone through. This was their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches, an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into Play

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he brought Atlanta into the lead with a par putt from just under nine feet on hole 2. The Bay immediately responded on subsequent holes by using the hammer, turning the score to 1:2 against Atlanta. A clear momentum shift came on hole 6, \”Alpine,\” when Gotterup chipped in for eagle to level the match. Although The Bay did not use the hammer then, the emotional impact was notable: tie. \”I try to read as much as possible on the greens – it’s not easy with all the lights,\” Gotterup said later. \”But when you make such putts, you know what to expect.\”
