At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions from its star players before match day.
Entering its second season, the TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each featuring four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are held indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech facility with seating for about 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in alternate shot format (“Triples”) and six holes of direct singles competition (“Singles”). The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded NHL-style, including overtime bonuses.
New Year’s Resolutions at TGL: Coffee, Character, and Consistency
The unique stage brings familiar faces together. At the start of the new season, TGL offers a glimpse into the personal New Year’s resolutions of its players, ranging from small to significant goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of daily visits to Starbucks or Dunkin’. The machine is ready but still needs operation. Billy Horschel took a broader perspective, aiming to become a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it simple: “I don’t do resolutions. I’m just me,” he said plainly, the type who shuns the spotlight. Horschel was impressed, joking, “We all want to be Xander.” Schauffele replied dryly, “I’m not sure… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to play more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but didn’t have a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala kept it concise: “Stay injury-free. Don’t play badly.” Justin Rose reflected on past resolutions that failed and vowed to approach them differently this time: “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
