TGL Golf Stars Share Their New Year’s Resolutions for 2026

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players ahead of their match day.

Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative format: six teams, each featuring four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are held indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech venue seating around 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes split into two segments: nine holes played as triples (team alternate shots) and six holes played as singles. The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs featuring semifinals and a best-of-three final. Scoring follows an NHL-style points system, including bonus points for overtime.

Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s New Year’s Outlook

This stage brings familiar faces together on the course. With the new season’s start, TGL gives a glimpse into the players’ personal New Year’s resolutions, ranging from small daily habits to broader personal goals. Chris Gotterup approached it practically, aiming to brew coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning – the machine is set up, but mastering it remains a challenge. Billy Horschel took a more fundamental approach: striving to be a better version of himself, especially off the course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it brief: “I don’t do that. I’m just me,” he said dryly, hardly one for showmanship. Horschel was impressed, joking, “We all want to be Xander.” Schauffele replied, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to play more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea though had no personal resolution yet. Sahith Theegala kept it simple: “Not getting injured. Not playing poorly.” Justin Rose reflected on past resolutions that failed and vowed to do better this year: “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
