Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Sky retains the Majors.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Telekom’s Magenta TV has secured the broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour until the end of 2029. The deal includes 131 tournaments in 2026 alone and also covers the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will continue to broadcast all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated golf channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These channels will launch in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will show full tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will feature highlights, player features, and historical content. The coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire offering will be available at no extra cost to all Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive golf live coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, every tournament will be shown live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf rights, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the men’s and women’s Majors as well as the Solheim Cup, maintaining their hold on the sport’s most prestigious events. Golf fans looking to follow both weekly events and the Majors will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
