Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Sky retains the Majors.
Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. After years of exclusive broadcasting by Sky, Deutsche Telekom has secured the rights to air PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events on its Magenta TV platform. The agreement runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will continue to air all men’s and women’s Major Championships.
300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV
The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two newly launched channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—available on Magenta TV from January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. The first broadcasts will begin on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire golf package will be available at no additional cost to Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.
“Golf has found a new home on Magenta TV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever—from the first tee shot to the final putt, live and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom. “This is for both seasoned golf fans and new, younger audiences discovering the sport.”
Sky Retains Major Championships
Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the men’s and women’s Majors, as well as the Solheim Cup, ensuring that Sky retains coverage of the sport’s most prestigious events. As a result, viewers who want full access to weekly golf action and the biggest tournaments will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
