Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

From January 2026, golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage. After years of exclusive broadcasting by Sky, Telekom has secured the rights to air PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events on its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will retain the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated golf channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching on Magenta TV in January 2026. The channels will feature full tournament coverage, player features, current stories, and historical content. On-demand content will also be available. MS Golf 1 will broadcast all tournaments in full, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content. Coverage kicks off January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The year-round programming will be included at no extra cost for Magenta TV subscribers and MagentaSport customers.

“Golf has a new home at MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll show every tournament like never before—live, informative, and with a modern storytelling approach,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV.

Sky Retains the Majors

Sky hasn’t lost all its golf rights. It will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years, maintaining coverage of the sport’s most prestigious events alongside the Ryder Cup. Sky will also retain rights to the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors, ensuring it remains a key player in golf broadcasting.

To follow weekly live golf and the sport’s biggest events, fans will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky going forward.
